R.S.I. WELCOMES YOU
Road Safety Institute “Panos Mylonas” was the result of a vision which followed a tragic and unfair loss; the loss of Panos Mylonas who died at the age of 22 in a car accident on March 22, 2004 on his way to class at the University of Patras.
An idea out of a necessity: no more human losses on the streets of our country.
Numbers are relentless: Road crashes are the leading cause of death for young people between 15-29 years old, the second cause of death for people between 5-14 years old and the third cause of death for people between 30-44 years old, whilst permanent disabilities due to injuries are increasing as well. However, the reason for such high juvenile injury mortality in traffic accidents is the lack of information and education on road safety issues and the non-compliance with traffic regulations.

During the past 10 years, RSI "Panos Mylonas", true to its values, makes sustained effort to eliminate traffic accidents and protect life on the streets by trying to:
- Motivate and support the State at promoting road safety issues
- Form driving etiquette and behavior for all road users by implementing actions and campaigns for all age groups.
- Activate citizens and society by implementing good practices concerning infrastructure.
Having done great research, we matched all good and internationally recognized practices and implemented an innovative model of action based on technology.
RSI educational programs have trained more than 125,000 children and 140,000 citizens and informed hundreds of thousands more.
However, that is not sufficient as thousands of children and drivers still remain unaware of the dangers.
Apart from RSI’s actions, daily struggle and European recognition, we believe it is necessary for the State to apply professional and successful practices since a methodology has been developed and tested in practice.
This know-how should be utilized throughout Greece in a systematic and targeted manner.
Our vision: “a world without accidents”.
Through a tragic and unfair death, an organization with substantial and active role in the prevention of accidents was created. Our work has been recognized not only in Greece but also internationally, with distinctions from leading organizations such as the UN, the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC), the European Commission and many other. President Mrs. Vasiliki Danelli –Mylona and the Institute team, with great sensitivity and love, are dedicated to the critical matter of life and death: our transport safety on the streets of our country.
We hope our website provides you with all the information you need.
