The 1st Road Safety Info-Centre in Athens

by R.S.I. "Panos Mylonas"

The Road Safety Institute (R.S.I.) "Panos Mylonas" in its continuous efforts to inform and raise awareness all road users, has created an Info-Centre in the centre of Athens. It is an easily accesible pleasant area that will help increase public awareness in road safety issues.

The purpose of the Info-Centre is to establish a stable bridge of communication between RSI and citizens who will be able to reach it easily and all day long.

Through the Info-Centre, citizens can be informed on the issue of traffic incidents in our country and raise awareness through statistics, videos and special manuals that have been created by the RSI; they can also participate in special education programs that RSI has developed and be informed about voluntary work to support the Institute.
The Road Safety Information Center (R.S.IC.) was established through the EU funded project AVENUE and thanks to the kind support of Philekpaideutiki Etaireia (Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning) and the Safer Roads Foundation.

The Institute invited its volunteers, partners, stakeholders along with media representatives to support this initiative and attend the official opening ceremony of R.S.IC. that took place on December 11th, 2013 (5, Pesmazoglou Str. & Stadiou, Arsakeio Megaron, Athens).

The opening was held by the General Secretary of the Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning (Philekpaideutiki Etaireia), Prof. I. Paraskevopoulos and the Board Member of the Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning (Philekpaideutiki Etaireia), General Manager of the Books’ Archway where the R.S.IC. is located, Mr. D. Kakavelakis.

The President of BoD R.S.I. "Panos Mylonas" Mrs V. Danelli-Mylona presented the R.S.IC.'s goals, that aspires to become a key referral point for Road Safety and the EU funded AVENUE project’s educational programs. In addition, representatives of Members of the Alliance for Safety and Courtesy on the Road "Roads to the Future" created by R.S.I., made statements about their role and contribution in this road safety initiative.

During the event the Institute was also awarded by TÜV Austria Hellas with the certificate of ISO 39001 standard for Road Traffic Safety Management, in the configuration of which the Institute has held a key role internationally.

Simultaneously, the Institute also received the certificates of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 29990 standards relating to Quality Management, Environmental Management and Learning Services for non- formal education and training respectively.
