Clean Up - Safety Day in Athens Municipality Vandalized road signs “shined” again RSI initiative «Cleaner road signs – Safer roads»
For one more time, Clean Up- Safety Day campaign of RSI “Panos Mylonas” commenced on the 31st of May 2019 with moto: “Cleaner Road Signs- Safer Roads” that took place in Ampelokipi area which is encountering road signs vandalism. RSI’s initiative was under the auspices of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Athens Municipality and supported by Athens Traffic Police.

This campaign involves a series of original and important actions that have been carried out successfully for many years aiming at informing publically on dangers and risks deriving from vandalized and illegible road signs that have been “decorated” with stickers or graffiti. This particular action is affiliated with RSI’s vision “a world without road crashes” and promotes safe, responsible driving, and road accident prevention. Similar actions had been performed in Marousi, Dafni, Elefsina, Kallithea and Serres where more than 1.200 road signs have been cleaned. In Serres 100 secondary school students participated at the cleaning up day who had been previously attended the experiential program of RSI for road safety.

40 volunteers responded at RSI’s invitation for the “clean up day” together with BEAT employees who volunteered. At 9 p.m at Ampelokipi Metro station volunteers cleaned 157 heavily vandalized traffic signs on central roads of the area. In particular, 4 groups of volunteers followed a designated journey documenting problems such as broken signs, shifted signs etc.

It was a very encouraging and supporting response from our volunteers and more importantly, it alerts private and public initiatives to take action against urban life degradation.

“Clean up” events are taking place under the guidance of RSI’ s experts and are open to sensitive citizens to road safety.

You can support our effort. Together we can make road safety our safety!
