Road Safety Institute “Panos Mylonas” welcomes visitors to Greece at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”
Road Safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas” in collaboration with Athens International Airport (AIA) “Eleftherios Venizelos” is carrying out once again the summer informative and awareness campaign to Greek and foreign drivers visiting our country, aiming at a safer driving network in Greece. Therefore, all display cases will be projecting RSI’s posters during the whole month of August with kind support of Interbus co.
«Enjoy Visiting Greece. Stay Safe on the Road» is the main message of the campaign, illustrated and designed by RSI ; it promotes the need that transportations in summertime may foster feelings of joy, satisfaction and freedom in order to travel and enjoy our country’s beauty with safety and attention on the road.
The purpose of the campaign is to remind visitors arriving in Greece that road hazards are looming during summer when road traffic network is loaded especially in July and August, at the peak of tourists’ arrivals.
According to Hellenic Statistical Authority in 2018, at summertime (June, July, August), 190 lives were lost and 237 road users were heavily injured. The peak of road fatalities and heavily injured accidents is noticed in August, at the zenith of tourists’ arrivals and domestic transportations for summer vacation.
In parallel with our campaign messages displayed at AIA, RSI’s dissemination of social messages is in progress, projected on radio and TV spots on air. They concern main causes of traffic crashes, like aggressive behavior on road and parental role modelling in relation to next generation’s road behavior, as well as the importance of front and rear seat belts’ use.
Let us not forget, this summer we enjoy our vacation with safety and caution on the road!
