ESAMEA: Road Safety is everyone’s right and responsibility- Joint press conference
Memorandum between ESAMEA (National Organization for people with Disabilities) and RSI: promoting safety and independent living of people with disabilities and vulnerable population groups.
On March the 19th, National Organization for people with Disabilities and RSI signed a memorandum of collaboration at the beginning of the 12th National Road Safety Week. The main goal of the memorandum is to promote road safety and independent living of vulnerable people.
Mrs. Vassiliki Danelli – Mylona stressed that road safety is everyone’s right and responsibility. “We chose today, the first day of the 12th National Road Safety Week, to formalize our cooperation with National Organization of people with Disabilities. Respect to Traffic Rules means respect to human life and this must be in everyone’s mind. We can make it happen through informative and educational programs, driver’s trainings, research and promotion of policies embracing road safety and independent living of citizens with disabilities or chronic conditions. For 14 years now we focus on awareness, information and education for safe road culture and behavior and we have trained more than 190.000 students and citizens at schools and at open free events”.

Mr. Vardakastanis, ESAMEA’s President, highlighted that both institutions are willing to “raise awareness and motivate authorities to take their responsibilities. Road Safety is everyone’s right without exceptions! World should change their attitude and give an example. Rights do not have neither color, nor political party; they are universal. Hence road safety is for everyone”.
