12th National Road Safety Week, 18th to 24th of March 2019

The 12th National Road Safety Week was organized by RSI in collaboration with the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers, the kind support of HELLASTRON, Alliance for Road Safety and Culture “Towards future Roads” and from various institutions and organizations.
During this week, from the 18th to 24th of March, plenty of informative, educational and social events took place nationally promoting road safety. The purpose of this initiative is to inform, and raise awareness to all citizens on road safety culture so as to prevent and reduce road crashes. This year’s moto “Children are showing us the way” is a campaign dedicated to the children, the youth, as vulnerable road users. More than 1.700 students were trained on road safety issues and culture as pedestrians, cyclists and future drivers.
RSI’s social media featured every day students’ digital artwork from the 1st National Students’ Contest on Digital Creativity on Road Safety, co organized with Ministry of Education and Educational Television & Radio. Messages like “Life isn’t a game”, “Stop road crashes” and “Would you gamble your life?” are getting more serious than ever, as road crashes are 1st cause of death in 5-29 y.o. age group. Having this as the central message and wondering WHY, the new campaign was launched on social media focusing on children’s road safety.
During this week two important RSI spots were on tv air, regarding driving distraction and aggressive driving placing parents as role models for safe driving culture.

- Theoretical & experiential road safety educational programs and Road signs cleanup day in Serres (18/3)
- RSI ‘s participation at one day event organized by Central Union of Greek Municipalities in Chania (19/3)
- Two days training events to Secondary school students hosted by Ministry of Transportation (19-20/3)
- Educational programs for Primary school pupils of Geraka and secondary school students of Anthousa in collaboration with Association of Sustainable Development Cities (19/3)
- Theoretical & experiential road safety educational programs for secondary school students of Thrakomakedones (19/3) with kind support of BOSCH Hellas
- Kallithea Traffic Education Park (19-20/3)
- Regional Road Safety Day -Western Greece
- Theoretical and educational road safety educational programs to Secondary school students at Karpenisi (21/3)
