“Enjoy Visiting Greece. Stay Safe on and off the Road”
The Road Safety Institute (R.S.I.) “Panos Mylonas” in collaboration with the Athens International Airport (Α.Ι.A.) "Eleftherios Venizelos", implements for another year the summer informational and awareness campaign for Greek and foreign drivers who visit our country, aiming to keep everyone safe and healthy on the Greek road network.

“Enjoy Visiting Greece. Stay Safe on and off the Road” is the central message of this year's campaign, while the poster created by the RSI, promotes the need in of traveling and enjoying the beauties of the country, but always safely and taking care on the road, in compliance with the traffic rules, as well as all the rules of individual and public health for the prevention of COVID-19.

For this purpose, the showcases of the airport will be decorated with the posters of the RSI "Panos Mylonas", for the whole month of August, with the support of Interbus.

The aim of the campaign is to remind visitors arriving in our country that the dangers lurking on the road are real, especially during the summer season when the rural network is overloaded with a large number of vehicles. This is obvious, especially in the months of July and August, when the number of the arrivals to the A.I.A. "Eleftherios Venizelos" as well as the driving and pedestrian trips are at its highest peak.

According to the data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority for the summer period of 2019 (June-August), 224 road users were killed while 222 were seriously injured. The largest increase in fatal and serious injuries takes place in August, period that marks the summer holidays for the Greeks and the peak of the tourists’ arrivals.

Alongside with showcasing the messages at the A.I.A. premises, the dissemination of social messages through the RSI social media channels is in full progress, while the same messages are transmitted as television and radio spots at the country’s major TV Channels and Radio Stations according to the relevant decision of the National Broadcasting Council.

These social messages address the main causes of road crashes, such as aggressive driving, speeding, distraction and the importance of using seat belts in the front and rear seats, as well as issues such as parental roles in relation to the children's future driving behavior.

We should never forget that this summer we are enjoying our holidays staying healthy, safe and taking care on the road!
