The Academy of Athens awards Road Safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas” and its President,  Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona

The Academy of Athens has awarded Road Safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas” and its President, Mrs Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona, with a distinction for Ethics and Political Sciences, for the year 2021, for their exceptional work in raising awareness on road safety and mobility education among citizens and relevant bodies.

The Academy Secretary General Mr. Christos Zerefos announced the award during the Annual Conference on Dec 21. This is an exceptionally honorary distinction by the oldest research institution of Greece.

The founding of Road Safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas”, 16 years ago, and its work so far has received recognition in Greece and abroad  and has been distinguished by leading world organizations such as the UN, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the European Transport Safety Council, the Swedish government and other prestigious Organizations.

To this day, the Institute has trained 250.000 students of all grades, 5.500 educators, 47.000 young individuals in Law Enforcement, Officers and Military Executives, 16.000 corporate executives and employees, 20.050 Scouts, and 1.000 juvenile delinquents and their families. It has also implemented more than 150 information and awareness campaigns – reaching at least 6.000.000 civilians – through tv and radio broadcasting. With 3.500 volunteers and the support of numerous institutions and Organizations, RSI carries out hundreds of actions every year, having positive impact on society.

In regard to the award, the President of RSI, Mrs. Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona, has stated:
 
“We warmly thank the Academy of Athens, the leading intellectual institution of our country, which, with this exceptional honorary distinction, recognizes our social contribution and motivates us to continue our work, faithful to our vision for a world without road traffic crashes, a world we deserve and need.
From this position, I would like to thank my colleagues, with whom we share the daily fight for the protection of life on the streets, as well as the members of our Board of Directors who contribute non-profit to our difficult work. I would also like to thank our Members and supporters, without whom we would not have achieved what we have achieved during the 16 years of continuous service of the Institute.”
