Cooperation meeting between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and Road Safety Institute (RSI)
An information & cooperation meeting was held on Wednesday 2 August 2023, between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Road Safety Institute (RSI) "Panos Mylonas".
The meeting was held at the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms. Christina Alexopoulou, and the Secretary General of Transport, Mr. Ioannis Xifaras.
RSI "Panos Mylonas" was represented by the President of the Board, Mrs. Vasiliki Danelli-Mylonas, the Vice President of the Board, Mr. Dimitris Gatsonis, and the Director of the Institute, Mrs. Maria Niotaki.
During the meeting, the recently appointed Minister, the Vice Minister, and the Secretary General were informed on the work and actions of RSI “Panos Mylonas“ as well as the constructive ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and the Institute, in the common goal of preventing and reducing road traffic crashes.
Priorities for joint actions were also discussed, to be implemented in the near future, concerning education, information, advocacy, and awareness of citizens on road safety issues, with the vision of a world without road traffic crashes and the achievement of the national road safety target of halving road traffic crashes by 2030, in accordance to the EU and the global target.
RSI President also presented to the Minister the UN Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, which RSI has translated into Greek, having also participated in its preparation being in UN Consultative Status on Road Safety issues and a Member of the UNRSC.
The Minister congratulated the RSI President for the work of the Organization and its effective approach, based also on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The President of RSI confirmed her personal committed and that of RSI “Panos Mylonas” Institute to ensuring the uninterrupted continuation of the Organization's work for a world without road traffic crashes and placed the Institute's expertise and experience at the disposal of the Ministry. After thanking the Minister for his interest, she congratulated him on assuming his new duties and wished him every success in this very important and complex work.
