The 6th Panhellenic Student Contest of Digital Creation for Road Safety
The 6th Panhellenic Student Contest of Digital Creation for Road Safety held its Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 10th, featuring enthusiastic participation from students nationwide, in the Book Castle of the National Library of Greece (NLG), at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). The event was organized by Road Safety Institute (RSI) "Panos Mylonas" and the Department of Educational Radiotelevision & Digital Media of the Directorate of Program Support and Education for Sustainability of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports.
This institutionalized Student Contest aims to raise awareness and engage students in the issue of road safety through the creation of original digital works (short films, video spots, applications using Web 2.0 tools). Students, educators, and parents from all over Greece traveled to Athens to present their award-winning creations dedicated to safe mobility for different categories of road users. The children's creations combined original scripts, impressive visuals, music, games, and digital media to convey powerful social messages in a creative and innovative way.
The Awards Ceremony was honored by the presence of Mrs. Domna-Maria Michailidou, Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Mrs. Christina Alexopoulou, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Makarios Vasilios Lazaridis, President of the Special Permanent Committee on Road Safety of the Hellenic Parliament, and many more. The event was greeted by the hosts, Mrs. Vasiliki Danelli-Mylona, President of RSI "Panos Mylonas," and Dr. Sophia Papadimitriou, Head of the Department of Educational Radiotelevision and Digital Media.
All attendees praised the exceptional creations of the participating students for their valuable social messages as well as the role of RSI "Panos Mylonas" in cultivating traffic safety culture from early childhood.
Once again, the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (EAEE) proved to be a strong supporter of this institutionalized initiative. Mrs. Rebecca Toutouza, representing EAEE, emphasized the Contest's importance as a tool to raise awareness among children and teach them how to move safely on the road, contributing to the prevention and reduction of road traffic crashes in our country.
We warmly congratulate all students, educators, parents, and institutions who contributed to this endeavor. Special thanks to the National Library of Greece and the Deputy General Director, Mrs. Irene Pavlakou, for their warm hospitality.
In the vibrant engagement and uplifting response from all, our hearts brim with hope and optimism for a world without road traffic crashes.
The award-winning creations will be featured on the Educational Television zone in the Hellenic Parliament TV.
