in cooperation with the Office of Occupational Health & Safety of the Centre with the key message: “Do not overtake these Christmas Holidays… STOP the road accidents” 950 officers and soldiers attended the forum that was carried out aiming to inform and alert young people in order to prevent road traffic accidents; our country still continues ranking first in deaths due to road accidents.
This event attended by the Commander Mr.Avramopoulos Con/nos and the Mr. Maliahovas Con/nos. The co-ordinator of this forum was Mr. Kostis Vasileios.
Speakers on the issue of road safety and prevention of road-traffic accidents were:

Stelios Efstathiadis, Transportation Engineer

Audio-visual material was also displayed relevant to the subject of road safety.
The President of R.S.I pointed out that “The number of young people that lose their lives due to road accidents in our country reach 32% between ages 18-22 while for ages up to 36 years the percentages rise up to 49% of the total number of victims with an even bigger number of disabled people and those suffering the consequences”.
Many are the incidents of young soldiers that have lost their lives during their military service when they are on leave from the army due to holidays. |
