“Enjoy Visiting Greece, Stay safe on the Road!” by RSI “Panos Mylonas”
Road safety Institute (RSI) “Panos Mylonas”, in collaboration with the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, is holding for one more year a road safety summer campaign for native and foreign drivers who are visiting Greece for vacations. The posters will be in public view at the airport facilities during the whole August under support of the Interbus transit media. The campaign poster with the message “Enjoy visiting Greece. Stay Safe on the Road” was created by RSI and depicts in a pleasant way the stereotypical characteristics of the nations who are visiting Greece during summer season. The aim of the campaign is to remind and point out to the visitors that dangers on road are always present, especially in a season when the road network is overloaded with a high number of vehicles. Specifically, August is the month that counts the most arrivals of tourists at the A.I.A. “El. Venizelos”. According to the data provided by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (el.stat) last year’s June-August period was disappointing, reaching 239 fatalities and 386 seriously injured road users. This means that 3 people per day are losing their life on traffic accidents during summer season. As you can see at the diagram below, August is the peak up month of fatalities and serious injuries and concurs with the main Greek holiday season as well as the arrival of foreign visitors in Greece. RSI “Panos Mylonas” in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Greece is also holding a tv and radio spot campaign during the whole summer.
